The Amazing Bible

Our youth are leaving the church at an alarming rate, surely in part because they are taught in public school and the secular media that evolution is the only true science. Since evolution contradicts creation by God in Genesis, it is often concluded that the Bible is full of errors and contradictions, or is a myth. If you did not believe the beginning of a book, would you believe the rest of it? Most probably not.ⁱ Just saying “believe in Jesus” does little good if the Bible is not accepted as the Word of God.

The Bible is truly remarkable, fully worthy of divine origin, which throughout emphatically claims to be God’s Word. Let’s examine just some of the evidence for that, and no doubt there is more about the Bible to be discovered.ⁱⁱ^{,ⁱⁱⁱ,^iv}

More than 1/3 of the Bible was prophetic when written, containing about 1000 prophecies. About 500 have been fulfilled with 100% accuracy, and 500 are yet unfulfilled.^v To know the future God must be outside time, like viewing a parade from high up. All of it is visible simultaneously, but nearby only sequentially.

If the Bible is God’s word it must be scientifically accurate. For example, the earth is round Isa 40:22; Psalm 103:12, has no pillars Job 26:7, and mentions sea currents Psalm 8:8.^vi^,^viiWould not Moses, trained in Egypt, have included many of the scientifically false Egyptian ideas?

A hologram records an image so that if part is missing, there still is a complete image, but with reduced resolution.^viii The Bible is holographic in that key doctrines are not given together, but spread out “…a little here, a little there.” Isaiah 28:10. If part is missing, the complete doctrines are still there, but in less detail, guarding against error.

There are many ingeniously hidden messages in the Bible, such as in Adam’s genealogy^ix, and types or shadows such as: “For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.” Matt 12:40

For an Equidistant Letter Sequence (ELS), from the first letter, count a fixed number of letters each time, until a word is found. See an amazing example:^x

A heptad is 7 of anything, like a dozen is 12 of anything. The heptadic structure of the Bible is quite obvious from a casual reading,^xi but there are many hidden heptadic structures, documented in 43,000 tightly handwritten pages by Ivan Panin.^xii

It would not take many changes to obliterate the ELS and the heptadic structure, showing we have a faithful copy of the originals as God delivered them.

Prophecies were fulfilled in detail, so we can expect the same of unfulfilled ones. Since many will require modern technology, is it all a gigantic coincidence, or doesGod know the future?

The prophecy of the two witnesses in Jerusalem will require global TV for the whole world to watch Rev 11:3. The 666 Mark of the Beast will require modern computers and communication Rev 13:18. There already is an 18-digit International Bank Account Number, which could be written as 666: xxxxxx xxxxxx xxxxxx^xiii

A few fulfilled prophecies: Detailed fall of Tyre Ezekiel 26, Daniel prophesied exact progression of four empires from Babylon to Rome Daniel 7:6, 8:5–8, 11:2–4, Isaiah prophesied the Persian King Cyrus, 200 years before his birth Isaiah 44:28, and the prophecy of the regathered nation of Israel and full possession of Jerusalem 19 years later.^xiv Jesus in his first coming fulfilled the first 4 Feasts of Israel, and will fulfill the last 3 in his second coming.^xv

The Old Testament contains some 300 prophesies which Jesus fulfilled in exact detail. The odds of fulfilling just 48 of them by one person have been calculated as 1 in 10¹⁵⁷, and all 300 would be much more dramatic.^xvi Taking into account the 500 fulfilled prophecies, I believe it is reasonable that the odds of the Bible happening by random chance are less than about 1 in 10⁵⁰⁰. For perspective it is estimated there are about 10⁸⁰ atoms in the universe.

If we heard occasional sermons about these facts of the Bible, there would be less reason to deny that the Bible is the Word of God and refuse to trust in God. Also, this is testimony that most are not willing to submit to a personal God who holds them accountable for their actions.

Are you willing to gamble your salvation on these kind of odds? Your salvation is personal between you and God and does not depend on rites, clerics, traditions, baptism, good works, or belonging to any church or religion: “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works…” Eph 2:8-9 No matter what kind of person you are or what you have done: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9 Pray today to put your faith in Jesus Christ alone: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 Then study the Bible to live pleasing to God: “…if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” 2 Cor 5:17

Please pray like this with all sincerity: “Dear Lord Jesus, I confess I am a sinner, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe you died to forgive my sins and rose from the dead. I trust and follow you as my Lord and Savior. Please guide my life and help me to do your will. In the name of my Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.”
