The Evidence Based Faith

Popular ideas about faith and religion are that you just “take it on faith”, often implying that it is all myths and the like. However, I intend to show that Biblical Christianity is also based on irrefutable evidence. I believe for most true Christians their faith is based on divine revelation to them that God and the Bible are true. That is supremely important and is sufficient, and is a very real piece of evidence that the God of the Bible is the true God. However, there is in addition much objective evidence that the Bible is a Divine message from God to mankind, and that is the subject of this category. This evidence should strengthen a Christian’s faith, and challenge the unbeliever to place his faith in the true God.

The Bible itself claims it is evidence based, for example when the disciples of John the Baptist went to Jesus to ask him “Are You the Coming One, or do we look for someone else?” (John 7:19), Jesus did not respond “Yes I am, just trust me”. But rather in their presence did many miracles, and answered “Go and report to John what you have seen and heard …” (John 7:22a), or in other words, look at the evidence.  There are many places in the Bible where it says that the miracles were done so that one could know and believe that Jesus was the Messiah sent from God.

We are constantly bombarded with anti-Christian ideas, such as the incessant promotion of the theory of evolution. In public schools and universities our young people are especially hard hit, so I believe it is really important that they are informed of the objective evidence God has given us. This should help them to stand in the face of opposition.

Over time I expect to add substantially to these.
